Young Singers is a dynamic community choral program offered to youth in the Durham Region. Over the past twenty-six years, the organization has evolved into five choirs ranging in age from 4 to 20, fostering creativity through music and empowering hundreds of young people.
Young Singers have recorded three albums and have shared the stage with a long list of notable performers. They appeared in the outdoor production of R. Murray Shaffer’s highly acclaimed Enchanted Forest. They have sung with Donny Osmond, Michael Burgess, Liona Boyd, Liberty Silver, Mark Masri, Don Harron, Mr. Dressup and have enjoyed collaborating with colleague Robert Pilon and numerous Canadian choirs across the country.
Young Singers have sung the National Anthem at Woodbine Race Track, and for the Toronto Blue Jays and the Toronto Argonauts at the Rogers Centre. They have appeared at Hamilton Place, the Royal York Hotel, the CNE Muzik Building and at the Toronto Convention Centre for the Prime Minister of Canada. Young Singers have been guest artists on CBC, CITY TV and Rogers Cable Television. They have been heard across the country, touring the Atlantic Provinces all the way to British Columbia. They sang for HRH Queen Elizabeth at the Queens’ Silver Jubilee Celebration and performed for thousands of Canadians at the Millennium Celebration on Parliament Hill.
Young Singers have served as international ambassadors for Canada, singing in prestigious venues including Salisbury and Canterbury Cathedrals in London, England; the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee; on the Great Wall of China in Qinhuangdao, China; and at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Dublin, Ireland. Young Singers are delighted to perform for audiences of all cultures and ages where they can share their joy of music!
